60th Annual Ozark Folk Festival

The legendary Odetta and the always fun Trout Fishing in America,headline the oldest festival in the Ozark Mountains, the Ozark Folk Festival in Eureka Springs, celebrating its 60th year!

The mammoth, city-wide event starts Wednesday night with the Queens Contest, then continues through Sunday with performances in the City Auditorium and various venues throughout town.

There will be a parade on Saturday at 2:00PM with a Songwriter's Contest in the Basin Spring Park.

15th Annual VW Weekend

The Ozarks will take on a decidedly West Coast feel during the last weekend of August this year. That's when hundreds of VW's,--«Bugs,» vans and otherwise--invade Northwest Arkansas. They'll be here for the 15th Annual Eureka Springs VW Weekend, and the theme this year is «Cal Lookin'.»

5th Annual Bluegrass Festival

The «King of Newgrass,» mandolin prodigy Sam Bush, and legendary picker Marty Stuart will headline the 2007 Bluegrass Festival in Eureka Springs, AR, August 23-26. The festival opens Aug. 23 at 6 pm in Basin Spring Park with a new event, the Watermelon Social. Besides the main shows in the Auditorium, the 5th Annual event includes free music in Basin Spring Park, fiddle, guitar and upright bass workshops, pre-shows featuring a local all-star band, and a Best Bluegrass Band competition.

SYNOPSIS: Charles Price may have grown up with his father in the family shoe business, but he never thought that he would take his father's place. Yet, the untimely death of his father places him in that position, only to learn that Price & Sons Shoes is failing. While in despair at his failed attempts to save the business, Charles has a chance encounter with the flamboyant drag queen cabaret singer, Lola. Her complaints about the inadequate footwear for her work combined with one of Charles' ex-employees, Lauren, leads to a suggestion to change the product to create a desperate chance to save the business: make men's fetish footwear. Lola is convinced to be their footwear designer and the transition begins. Now this disparate lot must struggle at this unorthodox idea while dealing both the prejudice of the staff, Lola's discomfort in the small town and the selfish manipulation of Charles' greedy fiancée who cannot see the greater good in Charles' dream. (PG-13)
