Double your pleasure

Iris at the Basin ParkIris and Rick Feutz own and operate two outstanding galleries in Eureka Springs. Both galleries exclusively feature American art that includes work by many local artists.

Ten years ago the couple relocated From Maryland and opened Iris in the Park on the ground level of the Basin Park Hotel, #8 Spring Street.

The Serendipity Gallery is two years old and can be found on the main floor of the historic Crescent Hotel at 75 Prospect.

Iris At the Basin Park was honored as one of the top 100 craft galleries in the United States in 2005 by the Niche magazine. It represents works by 140 artists while the Serendipity showcases 100 artisans. Two local artists represented in the galleries are Deborah Womack and Julie Kahn.

The galleries have a feel of causal elegance and visitors who enter are delightfully zapped with an explosion of color both from the art and the décor. There is much to make one smile with works that range from tongue wagging doggie clocks, whimsical two-dimensional works, and fine hand crafted designer jewelry.

Iris Feutz is unwavering in actively promoting Eureka Springs as an art colony. With a mother-like devotion she cares for and encourages local artists.

Benches in Basin ParkOne of her dreams was to enhance the beauty of outdoor Eureka Springs with the placement of public art. She successfully pursued the painted bench project for Basin Park. An array of adorned benches by local artists are now displayed in the park.

Every May a new collection of benches is unveiled.

With an eye toward the future the Rick and Iris sponsor up and coming art students from the Eureka Springs and Berryville High Schools with a show during the May Festival of the Arts. The exhibit is the first gallery showing for the budding «Rembrandts» of the future.

By promoting working artists and encouraging artists of the future, the Feutzs have increased and enhanced Eureka Springs' reputation as an art colony. After visiting their galleries you'll see why Eureka draws collectors from all parts of the country and makes the town a true art destination.

Iris At The Basin Park and the Serendipity are open year round. For a special treat and a chance to meet working artists, visit the two galleries during the 2nd Saturday Gallery Walk held monthly during the season. And make sure you double your pleasure by visiting both locations.
